Before becoming a lawyer, Cheryl Trine operated a childcare business in Northern Colorado while raising her own children as a single parent. During that time, she also organized community efforts addressing public water and air contamination issues, often standing up to well-funded corporate interests on behalf of families concerned about their children’s health and safety. She later put herself through law school and built a successful legal practice dedicated to helping people navigate complex and difficult circumstances.

Cheryl understands that when a child is injured, parents are not simply managing a legal claim. They are managing fear, uncertainty, medical appointments, school concerns, and difficult decisions about the future. She brings both determination and compassion to that work.

Galen Trine has devoted much of his career to helping families navigate serious harm. His experience includes representing children and families in cases involving product defects, trucking collisions, wrongful death, mass violence, and other catastrophic injuries. He has handled complex litigation involving pediatric injuries and the science of how childhood injuries develop and manifest over time, including questions involving growth, learning, psychological development, future employment, and long-term care needs.

Outside of legal practice, Galen has worked with children in educational settings, including Montessori classrooms, and has trained in psychodrama and play-based approaches to understanding human development. He has also worked on issues affecting children in conflict zones and has consulted on matters arising from school shootings, including issues related to the Uvalde tragedy.

Together, Cheryl and Galen created Trine Law & Mediation as a family-centered practice focused on providing thoughtful, high-quality representation to a limited number of clients. We believe every child deserves the opportunity to thrive, and every family deserves honest guidance when facing one of the most difficult moments of their lives.
